This September I’m taking part at the Design Festival – I’m extremely excited about it.
I’ll be showing with some fabulous people (Images Surgery’s Joseph Warren and Squint/Opera) at the Medcalf Bar in Exmoth Market from 19th -27th September.
Here’s what I’m doing…
“As a celebration of the fundamentals of print design artist Ella Johnston has stripped her colour drawings down to the essential colour elements of print production – CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black).
“Using the basic principles of the four-colour print process Ella has separated her drawings into CMYK templates (that when printed altogether would look like the original drawing). These ‘separations’ will be screen-printed individually using these process colours, then made into a 3D cube. The cube will be placed on an angle in a goldfish bowl, so each separation can be seen. There would be an accompanying leaflet explaining this basic print process.”
See www.londondesignfestival.com/ for more on the whole festival.
Now here’s a taster of the ‘broken down’ image…
