I’m Ella Johnston, a creative content producer and consultant. I use my extensive experience as a lifestyle journalist, editor, illustrator and stylist to enable organisations and individuals to tell their stories effectively and with authenticity both editorially and visually.
I provide services as an illustration expert, creative consultant and brand ambassador for the Mitsubishi Pencil Company. I supply marketing strategy and creative content (copy, illustration, photography and film) for new product launches, train sales teams on creative ways to communicate product USPs and liaise with retailer customers on bespoke media content based on lifestyle trends.
An experienced editor and writer, I’ve edited Homemaker, Make It Today, Let’s Get Crafting and PaperCrafter magazines, as well as Restaurant magazine. These roles saw me leading magazine direction both editorially and visually; directing, commissioning and writing content, styling and art-directing shoots and providing overall synergy with social media channels.
My background in content marketing has seen me work on publications for a number of high profile brands, including Marks and Spencer, Boots, Cath Kidston, The National Childbirth Trust, University of Bedfordshire and Ernst & Young.
My illustrations and stationery collections have been commissioned by, and showcased in, Guardian Labs for Brittany Ferries, St. Martin’s Press, The Eighty Eight Magazine, Firewords, Boots Health and Beauty, Elle Decoration, Stylist’s Emerald Street, Homemaker, and Ideal Home.
I am also creative director and illustrator for the independent publishers Dunlin Press. This involves devising and developing overall branding and visual direction for the Dunlin Press brand as well as designing the publications and their marketing materials.
